A green pool is an algae bloom: chlorine dropped, the water warmed up and algae took over the walls and the water column. In Houston that can happen in a single hot week after a filter clog, a pump failure or a vacation. The fix is not one “shock and hope” visit. It is a controlled sequence over several days, and we price the whole sequence up front.

Our green pool cleanup is a flat $300 for residential pools up to about 25,000 gallons, chemicals included, as long as you can still see the bottom of the pool. If the water is dark green, black or swampy and the floor is invisible, the severe algae treatment ($600) covers the extra visits, chemicals and vacuuming that recovery needs. What we do

Step by step, in the order it happens

Day 1: test, shock and brush
We measure chlorine, pH, alkalinity, stabilizer and phosphates, correct pH first so the shock works, then super-chlorinate and brush every wall, step and the tile line to break the algae off the plaster.

Day 1–2: circulate and filter
The pump runs continuously. We backwash or clean the filter as it loads up with dead algae, sometimes more than once, and add a clarifier or flocculant if the water is dense green.

Day 2–3: vacuum and rebalance
Dead algae settles on the floor and gets vacuumed to waste. Chlorine is brought back to a normal range and the chemistry rebalanced, and we leave you with a photo and the readings.

After: keep it clear
Most pools are swimmable again in about three days. To keep it that way, the weekly Partial or Full plan takes over chemistry, brushing and baskets from the first week.

Good to know

Very large pools, black algae or pools with heavy debris may need extra visits; the technician tells you after the first visit before any extra charge.

If the water is more than a foot down, or the equipment is not running, we let you know what has to be fixed first.

How long does a green pool take to clear in Houston?

Most residential pools are swimmable again in about three days after the first visit. Heavier blooms in August heat or pools with dead leaves on the floor can take a week.

Do you drain the pool?

Almost never. Draining a Houston pool in summer risks the shell popping out of the ground because of the high water table. We clear the water in place with chemistry, filtration and vacuuming to waste.

Is the $300 price all-in?

Yes for typical residential pools: chemicals, labor and the follow-up visits over the first week are included. The only extras are equipment repairs, which we quote separately, and unusually large or black-algae pools, which we flag before any additional charge.

Can I switch to weekly service afterwards?

Yes, and most customers do. Get your flat monthly price on the home page; if you choose “Green or cloudy” there, the reset is added automatically before weekly visits start.
